American sailor Terry Hutchinson was frequently in the headlines during the 36th America’s Cup as skipper and Executive Director of New York Yacht Club American Magic. Although that campaign may have ended without the desired result, Terry is not done yet. INEOS Team UK are out of the America’s Cup! They fought valiantly but they just couldn’t shake the Challenger of Record, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. The Italians sailed a flawless regatta and will now meet Emirates Team New Zealand in the America’s Cup match. This will be the second time in their 6 attempts that they have made it to the America’s Cup Match itself.

New York Yacht Club American Magic re-launched PATRIOT after she capsized during a PRADA Cup Round Robin race on January 17. After nine days of intense boatbuilding and systems-work inside the team’s base, the AC75 returned to the Waitematā Harbor roughly 48 hours before her first PRADA Cup Semifinals match. American Magic will face Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli on Friday, January 29.

The Prada Cup starts tomorrow, and all eyes are on the Challengers, the teams who showed their hands at the America’s Cup World Series in December. Teams went away after the Series to work on their strategies, make improvements to their boats and use the learnings to improve on all levels – all this in line with claiming the right to challenge ‘Emirates Team New Zealand’ for the America’s Cup trophy.
