Who We Are:
Husband and wife duo, Hylton and Ingrid Hale have been sailing or racing yachts and travelling to exotic destinations while doing it, for over 4 decades.
“We love sailing and the amazing lifestyle that our family has been lucky enough to experience through this unique sport. Sailing has taken us to the most beautiful places in the world, and it has given us the chance to travel to, and experience new places and cultures. This love of sailing has led to our love of the ocean, and we want to support and promote those who protect it. We also recognize the amazing sailing talent that South Africa has to offer, our sailors appear on podiums all over the world, and this has never been fully promoted. We realized that the sailing magazines on the market covered either cruising or racing, and travel mags just covered travel, while adventure or sporting magazines only covered those activities.
We thought why isn’t there one brand for everything?
We wanted to share our lifestyle, and so we set out to create a beautifully produced, inspirational platform that combines the sailing lifestyle that we are lucky enough to experience and enjoy, with the sport that we love. We also wanted to create a platform to promote talented South African sailors and to support the protection of ocean health. And this is how Sail + Leisure was born,” – Ingrid Hale.

We support organisations that promote ocean health and conservation by highlighting the good work they are doing.
